Cold Weather Cozy

Image
Hi friends! It's been cold here in Kentucky and we even got a few inches of snow this morning. Winter has definitely shown up here and around the country! I actually enjoy cold weather and hunkering down in the house with warm sweaters, cozy  blankets and a steamy drink.  I have been working on a little kitchen refresh that I'm hoping to share in a few days. In the meantime, I hope you'll enjoy a few pictures of our living room fireplace area. I hope you all stay warm and have a terrific weekend! I made some homemade chicken soup this morning and it has been simmering away on the stove top - it smells so good on this blustery January day. I'm looking forward to having some for supper tonight! Cozy Winter Favorites: Wax Melts

Image
Hi friends! I've been thinking about the things that make my house a home and give me all the cozy feels during the cold and sometimes dreary days of winter. I also thought it might be fun to do a little series of posts about them to share with you! Today let's visit one of all time favorite ways I like to cozy up my home, not just in the winter, but year around - wax melts!  There are so many things to like about wax melts, but my number one reason I'm a fan is no open flame! No danger of fire, no dirty soot. Don't get me wrong, I love a good candle (and do use them) but yikes, they sure burn dirty and make a mess when used day after day. And of course, the danger of forgetting to extinguish them and the risk of fire.  I do like the smell - or "throw" - of a candle more than a wax melt, but the wax melts are a great alternative!   Wax melts can be very economical - only a few dollars for a pack that will last you many, many days. They are easy to find - avail

New Year, New Finds

Hi y'all! I had a chance to do a little shopping today before I picked up my grocery order, so I thought I'd share with you what I picked up. It's a tiny haul, but that's okay - I really don't need any of it, lol! I found a few things at my local St. Vincent DePaul and Home Goods. I haven't been thrifting in forever and I was so surprised how empty SVD was! I asked the cashier what was up and she said their shelves really got cleared for Christmas. Hopefully they will start getting more donations soon. Here's my haul for the day! The little saucers and silver coffee/tea server was from SVD and the rest was from Home Goods. How sweet is this silver server? I can just see it filled with a wispy plant or even some baby's breath. The pillow was a $12.99 buy and will look cute on my front porch for Valentine's Day. The terra cotta hand towels are a master bath refresh.  The detail is just so pretty. The little saucers are a pretty cream and green. I love

2024 Will Be Enough

Hi y'all! Happy New Year to all of you!  I've been thinking a lot about the new year and all the usual resolutions and expectations we all tend to set for ourselves with a 365 day clean slate presented to us each January 1st.  As the Christmas season unfolded, I also have been thinking about the pressures and expectations we tend to put on ourselves to make the Christmas experience "perfect."   We craft, we decorate, we bake, we entertain, we buy and yet, it never seems enough. Social media has a lot to do with this feeling of not doing or being enough. I noticed in so  many blogs and vlogs this past season, where the creators would constantly  apologize that "I need to repaint this room, our Formica countertops need to be replaced, we ran out of time to install new floors, the curtains are all wrong" and on and on and on. Nearly every post or video proclaims some embarrassment or disclaimer that their home was just not quite good enough. Yet, there homes w

Merry Christmas Friends!

Luke 2:8–14 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU! Hi y'all! Thank you so much for spending the last 25 countdown days with me. I had hoped to share a home tour with you today, but as you know, I've been sick for half the month and truthfully, just wasn't able to put one together. Soooo, for my last countdown post, I am sharing a few pics of our Christmas Eve tablescape. Thank you for stopping by,

Homespun Holiday Countdown Day 24

Hi y'all! I'm still down and out with my cough and cold, so I've gone to the vault for some Christmas decor of the past.

Homespun Holiday Countdown Day 23

Hi friends! As the holidays draw close, with all the preparation, work and stresses that sometimes come with it, I am reminded this season of the joy it holds in the eyes and hearts of children.  Our two and a half year old grandson is all things Christmas this year and our hearts have been full watching him take in all the Christmas magic. Christmas present this year is a reliving of our days of being young parents oh so many years ago. These are the days to treasure for sure and the reason we moved from Wisconsin to Kentucky two years ago! Our sweet grandson loves the train around our tree and we have spent many hours playing with him, enjoying and encouraging his imagination. A few weeks ago, grandpa built a wooden tunnel for the train and yesterday we watched our grandson proudly paint it! He was very concentrated and focused, lol. Of course, it wouldn't be a successful paint job if he didn't get some paint in his hair. I think he takes after grandma. Ha! If you have little
