Homespun Holiday Countdown Day 22

Hi y'all! Who doesn't love a great looking decorative pillow? Inside, outside - a cute and cushy pillow adds such a cozy and inviting touch to our spaces. Let's take a look at some of my Christmas pillows. This last "pillow" was a fun DIY. Wal-Mart had these felt pennants this year and I thought they would be fun sewn into a pillow. So I joined two together with a blanket stitch of green floss, stuffed with fiber fill and then antiqued it all with a coffee and cinnamon mixture. I think it turned out so cute and it has such a vintage vibe. Thanks for stopping by,

TFT Blog Hop  Hi y'all! Depending on your perspective, the holidays are winding down or gearing up! Anyway you look at it, Christmas is almost here. I think I'm pretty ready for it, but I know there is still much to do! How about you? Are you ready for the big days ahead? Its been a rough ten days or so of having a good old fashioned head cold, but I am on my way to recovery and if you read yesterday's post, you know I ventured out to one of my favorite antique malls  Ohio Valley Antique Mall  in Fairfield, Ohio.  I didn't get much, but I thought I'd show you my loot! Look for these in my home tour on December 25th to see how I've styled everything. Thanks for stopping by, Join me at a party or two: Thursday Favorite Things Funtastic Friday

Homespun Holiday Countdown Day 14

Hi y'all! Our sweet grandson was with us for a few days over the weekend, so we had time to do some fun, age appropriate crafts with him.  One of the crafts was making salt dough hand print ornaments. So easy, inexpensive and they always turn out so cute! I just searched for a recipe online that lined up with the ingredients I had in my pantry and we mixed up a batch. Once mixed, I rolled out the dough and let the hand printing begin! He really liked doing that and I had his attention long enough to get five! I cut away the excess dough away, poked a hole for a hanger and put them in the oven to dry. My recipe took about an hour at 300 degrees. After they cooled, I painted them on both sides with white acrylic paint. Then I finished the front of them with all of the details. You certainly could paint both sides if you wanted to. Once the paint was dry, I sprayed them with two coats of matte sealer. Super cute! Thanks for stopping by, Join me at a party or two: Favorite Things...
