A Fall Flirtation

I hadn't planned on posting today, but as I passed by a little washstand in my front entry, I was taken by the sun light shining on the wreath hanging in the mirror.


This wreath is so pretty and I just loved the soft pinks and taupes of the florals. It is a bit of a departure from my deeper color scheme, but I think it co-mingled quite nicely. My fall flirtation with pastels!


I'm thinking about painting this piece white. It is a very orange golden oak, and is kind of a mish mash of parts and repairs. I have had it for about a year now and keep threatening to take the brush to it!



Something about this taupe flower...be still my heart!

    The fall pastel wreath is a change from the normal Autumn colors. The colors work well and love the taupe mixed in. Janice

    Love the wreath and am intrigued by your desire to paint the washstand. I think it will look amazing. Can’t wait to see what you show us next.     Jane, what a sweet wreath. I love the wreaths with all the faux flowers, but sometimes they are a bit garish (I happen to have made one of those for my screen porch) your's is so soft and beautiful. It pays to pick the right colors. After collecting antiques for a really long time, I was one of those who scoffed at painting a good piece of wood. I am passed all that now and really love painted pieces. If you think it is too good to paint then don't do it, but if not, have at it. I think it will look wonderful and I can't think what you are up to, maybe changing the carpet on your stairs, or not?..Happy Tuesday..Judy

 Hi friends! It's been cold here in Kentucky and we even got a few inches of snow this morning. Winter has definitely shown up here and around the country! I actually enjoy cold weather and hunkering down in the house with warm sweaters, cozy  blankets and a steamy drink.  I have been working on a little kitchen refresh that I'm hoping to share in a few days. Cozy Winter Favorites: Wax Melts

Hi friends! I've been thinking about the things that make my house a home and give me all the cozy feels during the cold and sometimes dreary days of winter. I also thought it might be fun to do a little series of posts about them to share with you! Today let's visit one of all time favorite ways I like to cozy up my home, not just in the winter, but year around - wax melts!  There are so many things to like about wax melts, but my number one reason I'm a fan is no open flame! No danger of fire, no dirty soot. Don't get me wrong, I love a good candle (and do use them) but yikes, they sure burn dirty and make a mess when used day after day. And of course, the danger of forgetting to extinguish them and the risk of fire.  I do like the smell - or "throw" - of a candle more than a wax melt, but the wax melts are a great alternative!   Wax melts can be very economical - only a few dollars for a pack that will last you many, many days. Homespun Holiday Countdown Day 5

 Hi y'all! Welcome to Day 5 of my Homespun Holiday Countdown. I am so grateful you have taken the time to stop on in to check out what I've got going today. I wanted to share a little corner of my living room. We built our ranch style, open concept home in 2021. The floor plan doesn't offer a lot of nooks and crannies, and because it's open concept, it also doesn't offer a lot of wall space. I do love quirky spaces, but that was not to be in this house. Nonetheless, I try to make most of the corners and crannies I do have! Today's corner showcases a vintage Ethan Allen secretary desk I purchased from Facebook Marketplace. I like to style it with old books about Kentucky as well my collection of vintage pocket Bibles. For Christmas, I've displayed some antique as well as some vintage inspired Christmas items.
