Our Daughter's New Home

Hello friends!

I am sorry I went missing last week, but I was still dealing with camera issues and it also was our vacation week.  We had been scheduled for a trip to Canada, but with the borders closed that was not meant to be this year.  Instead, we went to our daughter and son in law's new home in Kentucky to help them with some home projects.  They both are working from home these days so we feel it is safe to visit.

They purchased this lovely house in  April and it has been so wonderful to watch them make it their home.

Last week, replacing some trim on the second story was on the list. There's my daughter, cheering her dad on!

 
We also helped install a storm door...So nice to let more sun in as well as some fresh air!

When they bought the house, they knew right away their breakfast nook was crying out for a window seat.

We all pitched in and the four of us created the cutest window seat (with storage).  It really makes the space!  Their cat loves it as well!  


My husband and daughter installed a cat door leading to the basement. It was definitely a team effort!
It has been fun helping them with their first home.  They found a nicely updated house with new cabinets and flooring.  It was also freshly painted.  This has allowed them to add finishing and special touches right away.  It's a beautiful home for them to build their lives together.


We are back in Wisconsin now, working on our own house, lol.  Tonight we had a beautiful double rainbow.  My camera is finally working properly, so better pics and more posts will be coming!

    The rainbow is beautiful and a double one too. Very pretty and lucky. Your daughter's home looks really cute and the window seat is perfect in the bay window area. It is fun to help our kids when they buy their house. We enjoy helping our daughters too. Have a great week.

 Hi friends! It's been cold here in Kentucky and we even got a few inches of snow this morning. Winter has definitely shown up here and around the country! I actually enjoy cold weather and hunkering down in the house with warm sweaters, cozy  blankets and a steamy drink.  I have been working on a little kitchen refresh that I'm hoping to share in a few days. Cozy Winter Favorites: Wax Melts

Hi friends! I've been thinking about the things that make my house a home and give me all the cozy feels during the cold and sometimes dreary days of winter. I also thought it might be fun to do a little series of posts about them to share with you! Today let's visit one of all time favorite ways I like to cozy up my home, not just in the winter, but year around - wax melts!  There are so many things to like about wax melts, but my number one reason I'm a fan is no open flame! No danger of fire, no dirty soot. Don't get me wrong, I love a good candle (and do use them) but yikes, they sure burn dirty and make a mess when used day after day. Happy New Year to all of you!  I've been thinking a lot about the new year and all the usual resolutions and expectations we all tend to set for ourselves with a 365 day clean slate presented to us each January 1st.  As the Christmas season unfolded, I also have been thinking about the pressures and expectations we tend to put on ourselves to make the Christmas experience "perfect."   We craft, we decorate, we bake, we entertain, we buy and yet, it never seems enough.
