Almost Move-In Day/Red House Love
Hello sweet friends!
I am excited to show you the exterior of our "almost finished" new house. We are a few days a way from closing and a lot of finishing work has been going on. Last week, they painted, stained, poured the driveway and installed the sod and landscaping. There are a few exterior trim pieces that need installing as well as some clean up, but the outside is nearly done.
Now let's chat about our house color, shall we? I have had my sight on a red house since 1989, lol. Since that time, our houses have all been white. The first was an existing home with white siding. Our most recent house was white and was built in a subdivision where only light, neutral colors were an option - a neighborhood of all white and beige. Any other colors are strictly prohibited by the HOA.
Don't get me wrong, I've loved our white houses. White houses are so timeless and never go out of style. But my heart has belonged to red houses for a long, long while.
And so, we went for it! I will admit, I was very nervous about this choice until I saw it all installed and looking GORGEOUS! I love how the linen trim just makes it pop.
We are definitely the easiest house to find in the neighborhood. And definitely the only red one! 😂
Our post lamp was installed this morning and they are doing the final touch ups inside. There are a few special interior features I can't wait to share with you. We are so ready to head south to Kentucky and move into our new home and most importantly, live just a few moments away from our daughter, sil and six week old grandson!
My next post will feature some moving day/closing day pictures. Soon I will be able to take you along on my decorating journey!
Thanks for stopping by,
Oh Jane I love the barn red and the trim colors. Such a beautiful combination. This home is truly you. You are so close now to moving in and making this your sanctuary. xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh my Jane, I love it and I'll tell you why. Ever since we moved into our Cottage and knew we would need to paint it, I wanted it to be red with white trim. I did everything but stand on my head to talk Jerry and my Dad (who worked in a paint store at the time and had invented a color mixing machine) into that idea, but they finally talked me out of it. I don't even remember why at this point, but everytime I see a red house I just get mad thinking about it. I'm so glad you got what you wanted. It is truly beautiful and it seems to me that it went up very fast (probably not to you, though). I can't wait to see more. I love it..Happy Tuesday..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteIf I ever change the siding on my house it will be red. Love it! Congrats on the closing too. Only a matter of time when you can move in and I know you are itching to get in yesterday. Janice
ReplyDeleteHow exciting, Jane. Gotta love a red house, very familiar with these in Wisconsin. My parents cottage in Mt.Morris was an 1853 farmhouse painted red! Hugs, Sandi
