Happy New Year friends!

As much as I love Christmas decor (and oh, I do!), I also look forward to the fresh start the New Year brings. After all of the fall and Christmas trappings, the serenity and the "less" is a welcome change. 

One of my goals for January is to do some much needed organizing and reorganizing throughout our home. I've been taking my time getting the Christmas packed away. Some years, honestly, I was just so ready to take the decor down I would just haphazardly stuff it in bins and call it done. Of course, that only led to frustration when holiday time rolled around again. So...by spending some extra time now I know I will be appreciative next year when it's time to deck the halls! I'm also trying out packing and labeling decor by room, rather than category (i.e., greenery in a bin, ornaments in a bin, etc.). Although I do like to change things up each year, many things are used in the same room each year. Hoping this new storage idea makes the decorating less chaotic. We'll see! Once Christmas is wrangled, I've got lots of organization planned for the rest of the house.

I'm sharing a few snaps of my living room with it's current winter look.





Moving forward to decor, my first project is giving our laundry a refresh. I'll be sure to bring you along for the journey!

    I still have my living room tree up...just no ornaments on it. I love the lights lt during January and I just make some Winter displays now. Good luck organizing...I an not very good at it. Your fireplace area is delightful! Janice

    Hi Jane. I could have written your blog this time. Always unhappy each year to see that things are not where they are supposed to be in the following year. I am afraid I will continue to do so for another year at least. With the kids coming up so late I have been putting things away in some rooms and not in others. So whatever bin is available is it! Your home looks lovely in its winter setting..Happy Weekend..xxoJudy

 Hi friends! It's been cold here in Kentucky and we even got a few inches of snow this morning. Winter has definitely shown up here and around the country! I actually enjoy cold weather and hunkering down in the house with warm sweaters, cozy  blankets and a steamy drink.  I have been working on a little kitchen refresh that I'm hoping to share in a few days. Cozy Winter Favorites: Wax Melts

Hi friends! I've been thinking about the things that make my house a home and give me all the cozy feels during the cold and sometimes dreary days of winter. I also thought it might be fun to do a little series of posts about them to share with you! Today let's visit one of all time favorite ways I like to cozy up my home, not just in the winter, but year around - wax melts!  There are so many things to like about wax melts, but my number one reason I'm a fan is no open flame! No danger of fire, no dirty soot. Don't get me wrong, I love a good candle (and do use them) but yikes, they sure burn dirty and make a mess when used day after day. And of course, the danger of forgetting to extinguish them and the risk of fire.  I do like the smell - or "throw" - of a candle more than a wax melt, but the wax melts are a great alternative!   Wax melts can be very economical - only a few dollars for a pack that will last you many, many days. Homespun Holiday Countdown Day 5

 Hi y'all! Welcome to Day 5 of my Homespun Holiday Countdown. I am so grateful you have taken the time to stop on in to check out what I've got going today. I wanted to share a little corner of my living room. We built our ranch style, open concept home in 2021. The floor plan doesn't offer a lot of nooks and crannies, and because it's open concept, it also doesn't offer a lot of wall space. I do love quirky spaces, but that was not to be in this house. Nonetheless, I try to make most of the corners and crannies I do have! Today's corner showcases a vintage Ethan Allen secretary desk I purchased from Facebook Marketplace. I like to style it with old books about Kentucky as well my collection of vintage pocket Bibles. For Christmas, I've displayed some antique as well as some vintage inspired Christmas items.
