Lamp Refresh Reveal

Image
Hi y'all! I finished up my lamp refresh and I'm so happy with how it turned out. You can see the before  here . It's amazing what just a little Rub n Buf  can do to change the appearance of a finish.  I've had these lamps for years and while they aren't really my style any more, as I said in my  previous post , I just can't part with them. There's just something about them that pulls at my heartstrings. That being said, I decided a change in finish would help them fit better with my decor.  The Rub n But in Spanish Copper gave the lamp bases a more realistic finish and the darkened copper look blends so much better with the finishes in the rest of the room.  I let some of the original finish peek through for a more authentic look. Here's a picture of the lamp before. And this is after the Rub n Buf. Just a little refresh with big results, don't you think? Thank you so much for stopping by today and as Holy Week draws to a glorious close, I wish you ...

What I'm Up To Today - Lamp Refresh

Image
Hi y'all! Hoping your Monday is off to a good start!  It's a cool and drizzly morning in northern Kentucky, so I thought it might be a good time to work on a project I've been itching to do. I have a pair of lamps that are sort of a faux brass finish. They are made of resin. I picked them up years ago for $6.99 each. They don't necessarily "go" with my style, but there is just something about them that keeps them hanging around in my decor. They definitely need a refresh and I think I can make them look better as well as helping them "fit in." So here is where we are starting. This is what they look like with the light turned on. This is a more accurate picture of the color. My primary colors in our house are green and copper. These lamps actually do have a hint of copper, but primarily they look more brass to me and just aren't living up to their potential in their current finish. I've been wanting to bring more copper and rust hues into ou...

Sweet Easter Centerpiece

Image
Hi y'all! I thought I'd share my centerpiece today. We host Sunday dinner each week for our family, so I love putting together a special table.  This week it's a few bunnies, mixed with magnolia leaves and pussywillow branches on a stone ware platter. I added a little string of fairy life's to give it a magical feel at night. The bunnies are new this year from the Christmas Tree Shops and the floral came from Hobby Lobby. Wishing you all a blessed Palm Sunday and Holy Week. Join me: Metamorphosis Monday LouLou Girls All About Home Inspire Me Tuesday

Welcome To My Easter Entry

Hi friends! I've been missing from blogging lately, but I'm here to give it another try. Truthfully, our new house has kind of confounded my decorating inspiration. The house itself - the bones, if you will - is just not my style and I've been trying to make friends with it, lol. Don't get me wrong, I'm so very grateful for our home and there are many nice features. I am starting to feel inspired and what better time than this time of renewal?  With that said, I've got several posts coming up this week featuring what I've done for spring. I pretty much used what I had and tried to reuse find a few things as well.  Hope you enjoy!  H The sofa table was a $35 goodwill find many years ago. The mirror belonged to my parents and was originally part of a dresser. I made these cute carrots last year from yarn and Dollar Tree greenery. The sweet bunny couple were from Hobby Lobby last year. I think they brought them back this year as well. I added these cute candle...

Happy New Year

Image
Happy New Year friends! As much as I love Christmas decor (and oh, I do!), I also look forward to the fresh start the New Year brings. After all of the fall and Christmas trappings, the serenity and the "less" is a welcome change.  One of my goals for January is to do some much needed organizing and reorganizing throughout our home. I've been taking my time getting the Christmas packed away. Some years, honestly, I was just so ready to take the decor down I would just haphazardly stuff it in bins and call it done. Of course, that only led to frustration when holiday time rolled around again. So...by spending some extra time now I know I will be appreciative next year when it's time to deck the halls! I'm also trying out packing and labeling decor by room, rather than category (i.e., greenery in a bin, ornaments in a bin, etc.). Although I do like to change things up each year, many things are used in the same room each year. Hoping this new storage idea makes the ...
